Volunteer
The Stagville Descendant Council is looking for dedicated volunteers who can help advance our efforts in preserving and celebrating the rich history and cultural legacy of the descendants of Stagville Plantation.
Volunteers can choose to support the work of the following committees:
- Historical Research Committee:
This committee conducts research on Stagville's descendants’ history, archives, and family genealogy.
- Outreach Committee:
This committee focuses on educational programs, community outreach, and organizing events focused on descendants’ stories, information, and contributions.
- Information & Technology Committee:
This committee manages the organization's IT infrastructure and data systems.
- Grants Committee:
This committee seeks out and applies for grants to support the Council's initiatives.
- Cemetery Committee:
This committee oversees the maintenance and preservation of Stagville's Descendants Little River and other cemeteries under the SDC oversight.
- Planning, Logistics & Hospitality Committee:
This committee plans and coordinates logistics for events and activities and manages hospitality and catering for events and meetings.
- Communications, Publicity & Marketing Committee:
This committee handles communication efforts, media, public relations, and marketing efforts to promote Stagville's descendants’ mission, vision and strategic plan for the legacy and history of the organization.
- Fundraising Committee:
This committee helps organize fundraising efforts.
